CruisePalm Guide
Best Cabin Location for First-Time Cruisers
Category names sell cabins; locations make or break sleep. Here is the geography that matters.

The midship rule
Motion is lowest midship and grows toward the bow and, for some sensations, the stern. First-timers and motion-sensitive travelers should book midship on a middle deck, surrounded by other cabins above and below — the quietest, steadiest real estate on any ship.
Deck traps to avoid
Directly under the pool deck (6 a.m. chair scraping), above the theater or nightclub (bass until late), beside elevator lobbies and crew service doors, and adjoining the gym or kids' club. The deck plan is public — spend five minutes on it before paying.
Guaranteed cabins: the honest trade
A 'guarantee' fare lets the line assign your cabin later — cheaper, but you surrender location control and may land in the traps above or with an obstructed view. For first-timers, paying slightly more for an assigned midship cabin is usually money well spent.
The CruisePalm verdict
Midship, middle deck, cabins above and below, away from venues. That one decision improves every night of a first cruise.
