CruisePalm Guide
Best Florida Cruises for Families
Family cruising is won or lost on three things: the kids' program quality for your children's exact ages, a cabin setup that lets adults sleep, and a total price that survives contact with onboard spending.

Match the ship to your youngest decision-maker
Under-5s need splash areas, early dining, and nap-friendly cabins — almost every big ship works; pick by cabin and itinerary. Ages 6–12 are the waterpark-and-club sweet spot where Royal Caribbean's Icon/Star class, Carnival's Excel class, and Disney genuinely separate themselves. Teens need their own social architecture — look for teen clubs, sports decks, and ships where a 15-year-old is not an afterthought.
Cabin realities nobody advertises
A standard cabin for four is a compromise: convertible sofa or pull-down bunks, one bathroom, and luggage Tetris. Connecting cabins or a family suite often costs less than the frustration they prevent on a 7-night sailing. Disney's split-bathroom design is a real family advantage worth pricing.
Choose the cabin location for sleep: midship, between cabin decks, away from the atrium and the pool deck above.
Total cost, family edition
Price the whole trip: fares for every traveler (kids are not free on mainstream lines), taxes and fees per person, gratuities per person per day, the arcade/activities creep, and port-day spending. Private-island days are the budget heroes — the beach day is largely included.
The CruisePalm verdict
For most Florida families the honest short list is Royal Caribbean's newest ships, Disney from Canaveral or Fort Lauderdale, and Carnival's Excel class — separated by budget band and your kids' ages, which is exactly what the quiz asks.
