What to Pack for a Bahamas Cruise
Short sailings punish overpacking and reward a smart carry-on. Here is the Bahamas-specific version.

The carry-on (non-negotiable)
Documents, medication, chargers, swimsuit, sunscreen, a change of clothes, and anything fragile. Your checked bag may not reach the cabin until evening — pack like the first afternoon matters, because it does.
Beach and island days
Reef-safe sunscreen, a dry pouch for your phone, water shoes if your itinerary includes rocky entries, and a light cover-up that satisfies both beach clubs and ship dining minimums. Private islands provide towels — leave yours home.
- Two swimsuits (one always dry)
- Sun shirt for midday decks
- Magnetic hooks — cabin walls are steel and hooks multiply storage
- Lanyard or card holder for your ship card
Evenings
One outfit that reads 'smart' covers elegant-night expectations on mainstream lines; Bahamas short sailings skew casual. A light layer is essential — ships air-condition aggressively.
Leave at home
Irons and steamers (prohibited), power strips with surge protectors (often confiscated — plain multi-USB chargers are the safe play), and full-size anything. Laundry exists; luggage space is the scarce resource.
The CruisePalm verdict
Pack for the first afternoon, one smart evening, and the beach — and let the ship handle the rest.
